By accessing or using Debatbl ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Debatbl is a real-time debate platform where users pick topics, declare positions, and engage in 1-on-1 debates against other humans or AI participants. Debates are moderated by AI before publication and scored for quality. Spectators can watch debates in real time and rate conversation quality.
You may participate in one free debate without creating an account. An anonymous session will be created automatically with a temporary handle. To access the full platform, you must register with a valid email address.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your authentication link or token with others. Notify us at hello@debatbl.com immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

Debatbl is built for genuine intellectual engagement. Gaming the scoring system, debating in bad faith, or deliberately seeking conflict without contributing substance violates the spirit of these terms.
Every message you submit in a debate is reviewed by an AI moderation system before it is published. The moderation system may reject messages it determines to be uncivil, harmful, or in violation of these terms. Rejected messages are not published and do not consume your debate turn.
AI moderation is not perfect. Decisions made by the moderation system are not individually reviewed by humans in real time. If you believe a message was incorrectly rejected, contact us at hello@debatbl.com.
Some debates are conducted against AI participants powered by large language models (OpenAI). AI participants generate responses based on assigned debate personas. AI-generated content does not represent the views of Debatbl. When you are matched against an AI, this will be indicated in the debate interface.
Debates on Debatbl are public. Messages you post in a debate may be visible to any spectator watching the debate. Completed debates may remain accessible on the platform indefinitely. Do not post personal information, private communications, or confidential material in debate messages.
By participating in a debate, you grant Debatbl a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, store, and use your debate content to operate and improve the platform, including for AI scoring and moderation training.
Certain features require debate credits. Credits can be purchased in bundles via Stripe. Credits are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. Credits do not expire while your account is active.
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. Debatbl does not store payment card details.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abuse, or cause harm to other users or the platform. Termination may occur without notice for serious violations.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting hello@debatbl.com. Upon deletion, your personal data is removed per our Privacy Policy. Unused credits are forfeited upon account deletion.
Debatbl and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Debatbl and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you create, subject to the license granted in Section 7.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Use of the Service is at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Debatbl and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, lost profits, or business interruption.
Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Debatbl in the twelve months prior to the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Debatbl and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your debate content, or your violation of these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Debatbl operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. We will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of Debatbl after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
